Challenge:
At a manufacturing plant, a transgender employee was experiencing hostile interactions with collegues. Most employees were confused and did not know how to interact with their transgender colleague.
Solution:
Schabel Solutions consulted and worked with the Plant Manager and Human Resources Director to design a new employee policy pertaining to transgender employees and a customized workshop educating employees on the value of diversity, equity and inclusion.
Results:
The plant rolled out the new policy regarding bathroom usage and we conducted training to all plant employees. The company now has gender neutral bathrooms and three months after these actions were taken, related complaints to Human Resources have decreased by 90%.
